How to Use TwitterTicker

Twitter Ticker pulls Yahoo! Finance and Twitter data for supported major companies.

Begin by selecting a company. TwitterTicker syncs all of the displayed data for any selected companies. To select a company, click the checkbox corresponding to a company. This results in the selected company’s data displayed on all components of the visualization.

You can zoom and filter finance data by clicking and dragging the context pane on the stock graph. You can click to drag the entire selection of stock data, drag one of the edges, or even single-click outside of the selection on the context pane to select all stock data.

TwitterTicker supports two ways to visualize Twitter data:

1. Magnet View - double-clicking on the larger circles, the “Magnets”, allows you to see the distribution of attributes amongst the currently selected company’s tweets. After double-clicking to turn a magnet on or off, you can click to drag the magnets to different locations. Hovering over the individual tweets for a company allows for you to see more details on that particular tweet.

2. Cluster View - this view displays the popular tweets based on clustering with their corresponding companies. Each cluster is color-coded to match the color of the companies' lines on the above stock price graph. The size of each node corresponds to overall popularity of each tweet. More details on each keyword and corresponding tweet can be read by hovering over the nodes within each cluster.
